The Grado staircase collection has evolved to its present shape over the last ten years. Each staircase model has experienced many different variations and has been develped many times over the years. We have developed several new solutions in the field of staircase technology and manufacturing.
On this page, we will walk you through the normal manufacturing process from customer contact to pre-fabricated stairs. Because every destination where the stairs come is different, and every staircase is individual. Therefore, the stairs requires time and effort to get the best solutions and quality to the final destination.
Creating ideas with the customer
Designing and brainstorming with the customer is always key to a successful staircase. We guide the customer on what might and may not work, help with the choice of materials and colors, and think about the appropriate schedule.
Initially, we visit the site to take measurements, study the space and the possibilities of stair attachment. On this basis, we can suggest the best solution for the site.
Stairs draw 3D images to help you visualize the stairs in the right environment. Pictures are also reviewed with the customer. With careful planning, we can work together to make your idea unique and workable.
Stair manufacturing begins with machining the metal parts
Stair frames are manufactured in Finland and the material used is steel. All steel parts are surface treated with powder coating. The steel frames are available in all colors of the RAL color chart, but the most popular colors are black, white and dark gray.
Step by step
The work continues at the Grado Workshop. The most common raw material for treads is solid wood: birch, ash and oak. The wood is cut to the desired shape, sanded, slip grooved and finnished. The steps and handrails are oil waxed to fit other interiors.
Tempered and laminated safety glass is used for the railing material. The glass is strong and safe and well resistant to knocks. The glass edges are polished for best quality. The glass railings comply with all safety regulations that apply to them.
Installation and mounting
Once the steel, glass and wood parts are ready, the stairs will be installed and assembled on site. Safety is our top priority. In new projects, construction usually continues after installation, so it is worth protecting the stairs once the installation is complete.
Service and maintenance
The long life of the stairs and the beautiful aging are guaranteed by regular and proper maintenance. Here are some tips for servicing stairs.
